Fall

The crispness that creeps along the ridge speaks to fall,
The trees have already begun to turn into
those golden yellows and that brilliant hue of red,
Fall has begun and you can smell it in the air,
It won't be long before old man winter shows his face.

The pumpkins have been harvested and one can see them everywhere,
The smell of apples wander across the ridge up here,
Along with the hints of cinnamon and spice,
The cider is simply fantastic.

It is almost sad, it does bring a tear to my eye,
however, everything must end in order for it to begin again,
The new year is full of new hopes and new dreams,
And this new year will be no different.

We have said our goodbyes to loved ones this past year,
We will say hello to the new ones that will arrive,
With each day of sadness, there comes days filled with happiness,
For this I know.

Embrace the beauty that is put before you,
Live and breathe all that there is,
For tomorrow may not come for some,
Or worse yet it may come
and they might not be able to see it.

Live and seize the day along with opportunity,
It is not only knocking, it is knocking down the door.

Simply Simple

As I look out from that back deck,
the entrance into the forest is closer than it seems,
the blue sky is so close one could reach out and touch it,
and the billowing clouds are nowhere to be seen.

Summer has arrived, and the wild flowers are beautiful,
what is native to the mountain is spectacular in all its glory,
the stress level has reduced to almost nil,
and the happiness soars in each of our hearts.

To share the beauty of this mountain with him,
puts more than a smile on my face,
he is still full of questions,
and yet I know together, we will discover all those answers.

It has been an adjustment to say the least,
for as we age things to do come slower,
yet I am always reminded that there is after all,
a kid in the heart of each us, the laughter soars among us.

Oh how I wish that I had the youth I once had,
however, in my aging years I have the three of them together,
and for a woman who was once lonely,
my life today is more than full.

Who knew?
