Remembering You
Today I sit
and remember you
like it was
yesterday,
Unfortunately for so
long the only things
I could remember
were the tears,
Yet I can't help but
remember,
What might have been
had you still been
here.
I know in my heart
you would have loved
this place,
The tall trees that
stretch their limbs
clear to the sky,
A horizon that just
continues to rise,
You would have loved
my rim of the world.
It's spring, and as
you know, my
favorite season by
far,
The evidence
surrounds me these
days,
Baby birds flock in
the branches of the
pine trees,
Our residence
squirrel keeps
watch.
Morning brings such
a symphony,
Each and every bird
feeder has waiting
room only,
The sun continues to
shine and casts its
golden shadows,
and I sigh in its
mere beauty.
For me, I can
remember not to very
long ago,
When I wondered if I
would ever feel that
part of God's
nature,
Today I am reminded
that all things are
possible,
And after much grief
I have touched that
happiness once
again.
Not everything
remains the same,
Sometimes a simple
change of space
makes the
difference,
For me it was
returning to where I
found the spirit,
And that part has always
remained deep within my
heart.
I feel close to you
here,
I can almost reach
that sky,
At night I can pluck
more than a handful
of those shining
stars,
And during the day my
mind can float as
easily as those
clouds.
Yes, for me it has
been a turning
point,
And today I know
that I can move
into that
future,
Even though you are no longer here.
