A Missing Piece

Contemplating takes on new meaning these days,

I realize that there will not always be a tomorrow,

It is easy to lure yourself into believing that there will be,

Yet reality speaks ten fold on the subject.

Too often we put off those things until tomorrow,

When  we know we should be doing them today,

We waste valuable time and energy,

And too often we accomplish absolutely nothing.

Intentions sound good, they always have,

However, in a fleeting moment,

They can and will disappear,

Death is so final.

I am thankful for the time that we had together,

I am thankful for the love and pleasantries between us,

Nothing will ever bring him back,

I am left with a heart full of loving memories.

And yet I know,

This world is so empty,

Without him here,

I feel like a piece of me is more than missing.

Live the day,

It very well may be your last.

A Lady Forever
