Rest in Peace

There are many
Who cross our path in life
But there are few
That have left lasting
Impressions on our lives.

They can be family,
They can be friends,
and They can even be enemies.
I’ve been blessed
To know two.

One in particular
Brings a smile to my face,
And a sadness within my heart.
I’ve not known her long,
But grief doesn’t know days
It only knows what you feel.

Some have said she wasn’t beautiful,
And they’ve said she wasn’t smart.
But, that’s there ignorance, because
She was a beautiful woman inside and out,
And she was as smart as the next person.

Intolerance and Ignorance is a cruel shame.
We’ve all seen the looks of fear,
And the misunderstanding of someone who’s different,
Even the look of pity,
Whenever they’ve encountered her.

Even with the differences, she saw the good in people,
She didn’t see the color of there skin,
Nor did she care how rich they were,
She saw the person,
That lies in each and every one of us.

As long as we remember,
To love, to laugh, and to even smile,
And that tolerance is the greatest gift of life
Her memory will last forever.

I will always remember her,
Not for the differences, but
Because she was truly,
The epitome of Love and Understanding.

So Gina, rest in peace
Your friends and Your family
Are all better human beings
Because you were a part of our lives.

Your inspiration
And
Your Love
Will never be forgotten.

Dedicated in loving memory
To Gina Byington.
One of life’s most precious gifts
That we’ve been blessed to have been a part of.

We Love You
